First Methanol-Ready Cruise Ship Mein Schiff 7 Delivered to TUI Cruises

Meyer Turku, a Finnish shipyard, has delivered Mein Schiff 7, a cutting-edge cruise ship with methanol propulsion, to TUI Cruises.

The delivery ceremony marks a significant milestone in the cruise industry’s quest for environmentally friendly technologies.

Mein Schiff 7 is the first in its fleet designed for methanol propulsion, initially powered by low-emission marine diesel with plans to switch to methanol.

Equipped with a shore power connection and catalytic converters, Mein Schiff 7 reduces nitrogen oxide emissions by almost 75%, emphasizing its commitment to sustainability.

While powered by marine diesel now, plans are in place to convert Mein Schiff 7 to methanol propulsion by 2026.

TUI Cruises aims to use Mein Schiff 7’s methanol operations as an educational experience for future conversions in its existing fleet.

The delivery of Mein Schiff 7 symbolizes a new era in sustainable cruising.
