On June 8, at approximately 10:30 a.m. (per Gaza time), the US Central Command (abbreviated as the US Centcom) initiated the delivery of humanitarian aid ashore in Gaza.

About 492 metric tons of much-needed humanitarian aid was delivered to the people in Gaza via the repaired pier.

To date, the US Centcom has supported the delivery of over 1,573 metric tons of humanitarian aid.

No US military personnel has gone ashore in Gaza.

The ongoing effort to support the US Agency for International Development (abbreviated USAID) in successfully delivering additional aid to Palestinians based in Gaza is wholly humanitarian and features aid commodities donated by many nations and other humanitarian organizations.

US officials have stated that the effort was increasing volumes and that some issues have been resolved.

Over 1,100 tons of material, they informed, had been landed between May 17 and 25.

However, they admitted there had been issues getting the material from the dock to warehouses.

The US Navy members are only on the vessels and the dock, not going ashore or handling material as it’s transferred to distribution warehouses.

A safer route will be followed to prevent convoys from getting looted.

Some reports point out that as many as 11 of 16 vehicles were overrun, and the supplies were stolen before reaching warehouses operated by aid organizations.

Specialists highlight that the pier is exposed to elements because there is no natural cove or harbour.

Despite the scenario, US officials expect the pier to function optimally and that they can start increasing supply movements.

The goal is to have 500,000 pounds delivered daily across the beach and ramp up afterwards.
