A labourer’s dead body was found inside a foreign vessel, MV Ulusoi, at the Paradip Port in a mysterious situation on 23 April (morning).

The deceased has been identified as Bibhuti Barik, a Cuttack’s Baramba area resident.

Per reports, Bibhuti was employed as a labourer in the Istanbul-based vessel and had gone to the hatch of the vessel as a loader on Sunday night.

The body was, however, recovered about 30 hours after he had gone missing on the night of 21 April.

Questions are being raised regarding how any other worker could not spot the body despite visiting the same spot.

On being informed, the police reached the scene, seized the dead body, and sent it for an autopsy.

Even though the reason behind the death is yet to be determined, it is suspected that the labourer may have died due to suffocation.

The police have also begun an investigation into the matter.
