Shell Offshore Inc.’s (Shell) Olympus hull, the approximately 32,500 metric ton main body of the Olympus TLP, departed from South Korea today to begin its two month journey to the U.S. Gulf Coast.

BP announced that on June 3, 2012 it began the initial start-up of the Galapagos development in the deepwater U.S. Gulf of Mexico, one of a series of new major upstream projects that the company expects to bring into production this year.

During a recent Gulf of Mexico expedition, NOAA, BOEM and partners discovered an historic wooden-hulled vessel which is believed to have sunk as long as 200 years ago.

This latest order complements that of October 2011 with Harvey Gulf for the first US flagged offshore LNG vessels, and further demonstrates that the move to LNG as a marine fuel in the United States has begun. LNG fuelled vessels offer compelling operational savings and significant environmental benefits.
