Distinctive Ships of 2010 : Dry Bulk Carrier E.R. Brandenburg

Trade has always demanded the need for an existence of shipping of goods from one place to another. Coal and ore cargoes are shipped by the E.R. Brandenburg in cargo holds counting to nine, along with water tanks at the top, bottom and peaks for counterweight. Out of the total tonnage of 26 lakh DWT of the 24 dry bulk carriers that the company has, the E.R. Brandenburg constitutes 1,80,000 dwt alone out of it. Not compromising on standards of safety, efficient management systems and recycling activities, the E.R. Schiffarht’s dry bulk carrier too carry along with it these promises.

Looking into the technical details, one would not fail to notice that with a MAN B&W 6S 70MC-C7, 18,660, KW engine, the speed the E.R. Brandenburg gains comes around to 15.3 knots. The area where the cargo is held, measures up to 199,500 cubic meters, whereas the complete vessel totals a length of 292 meters. About 63 tons of fuel oil is sucked up by this carrier per day.

A huge rudder has been fitted to the ship in order to increase the easiness of the ship’s movement. Navigation systems like ECDIS are equipped into the carrier in order to enable easy monitoring and avoid accidents and grounding. Falling under the Det Norske Veritas + 1A1 class, this dry bulk carrier is surely a blessing for the developing shipping industry.
